Michael Mills, MD

Dr. Michael Mills is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in spine surgery and general orthopaedics at Carolina Pines Medical Group. He earned his medical degree from the University of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica, and went on to complete his orthopaedic residency at Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C. Dr. Mills furthered his expertise through a combined Orthopaedic and Neurosurgical Spine Fellowship at the Norton Leatherman Spine Center/University of Louisville Hospital in Kentucky.

Originally inspired by Dr. Ben Carson’s Gifted Hands, Dr. Mills was drawn to medicine as a way to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. His practice philosophy - “first, do no harm” - guides his patient-centered approach, emphasizing communication, trust, and individualized care. He treats a broad range of spinal conditions, including degenerative disease, scoliosis, disc herniation, and spinal instability, with a focus on minimally invasive and advanced surgical techniques.

Born and raised in Jamaica, Dr. Mills brings an easygoing personality and detail-oriented approach to every patient encounter. Outside of work, he enjoys going to the gym, watching movies, and spending time with his children at their basketball and soccer games.
